Please review the greater LA area Plastic Surgeon's Before & After Chin Augmentation Plastic Surgery Gallery: Chin Augmentation

Chin Augmentation Surgery

Chin Augmentation: Every face is different.  Some people may have been born with a chin that juts out, or a chin that appears to be too small in proportion to the rest of their face. When an individual lacks a substantially-sized chin, their face may appear as if it is "off-balance".  When the chin is too small it can also give the appearance that the nose looks longer and is larger than it actually is. This is why many patients will come to the Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon for chin surgery to enhance how the chin appears.  Chin augmentation is performed under general anesthetic by adding a synthetic-implant over the chin bone. This surgical procedure will truly enhance the aesthetic look of the face, and since the loss of a projecting chin may occur with aging, chin augmentation is also combined with liposuction of the face as well with some patients.

By augmenting the chin, The Orange County Plastic Surgeon can give overall facial balance -improving proportions of the face and accentuating the improvement of a rhinoplasty or facelift.

Chin Reduction Surgery

Chin Reduction Surgery: Chin reduction plastic surgery is a relatively fast procedure and general anesthetic is used. To reduce the chin, the Los Angeles area Plastic Surgeon will make an incision either in the mouth (closer to the lower lip) or just below the chin. Through that incision specialized instruments are used to detach the bone at the chin's tip and reshape it. The excess bone will be removed so that it can be proportionally contoured.

After Chin Reduction Surgery, the chin is taped and will be sore but there are no restrictions after surgery. It takes about 3 weeks for the chin swelling to largely go away and it begins to feel normal again.
