Liposuction Surgery

Liposculpture or Liposuction is a plastic surgery out-patient procedure performed to remove fat deposits that fail to respond to diet and exercise. Body Contouring Surgery

Ultrasound Liposuction Surgery

Ultrasound Liposuction Surgery: Ultrasonic liposuction is a form of liposuction where excess fat is liquefied using sound waves in order to help make fat removal easier and smoother during the liposuction procedure. Ultrasonic liposuction is a more advanced form of both regular lipoplasty and tumescent liposuction, which is used to get very precise body contouring (see above) results.

Ultrasonic liposuction can be used by the Orange County Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kim, MD, for treating areas on your body with very dense fat deposits and those from which a large amount of fat removal needs to take place. Ultrasonic liposuction is far superior to other forms of liposuction since it provides extreme precision and unlike other liposuction procedures, leaves no loose skin.

Laser Liposuction Surgery

Laser Liposuction Surgery / Smart Lipo: Smartlipo is a more recent and less invasive fat removal procedure than traditional liposuction. The smart lipo procedure is performed under local anesthetic and involves inserting a small cannula near the target body region through which a laser is then applied to break down excessive fat cells which are then naturally removed by the body’s natural waste removal system.

The Smartlipo procedure permanently melts away the fat cells. Smartlipo is ideal for treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, male breasts (gynecomastia), "bra fat", "love handles", "saddle bags", inner and outer thighs, knees and other areas of loose or lax skin.

Male Flank Liposuction / Love Handle Liposuction: The male flanks or "love-handles", are located just above the crest of the hip bone. The male flanks are a localized accumulation of fat that bulges over the belt-line in a most unflattering fashion and is accentuated by a pair of pants with a tight belt. When viewed from behind, the bulging male flanks appear bigger because the largest bulk of the male flank tends to be located toward the back. Flank liposuction is a rather fast procedure with excellent and immediate results which leave little if any scarring. Before Your Consultation

Liposuction slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits, improving your body contours and proportion, and ultimately, enhancing your self-image.

Despite good health and a reasonable level of fitness, some people may still have a body with disproportionate contours due to localized fat deposits. These areas may be due to family traits rather than a lack of weight control or fitness.

Liposuction techniques may be used to reduce localized fat deposits of the:

In some cases, liposuction is performed alone, in other cases it is used with plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, breast reduction or a tummy tuck.

What it won’t do:

Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise. It is also not an effective treatment for cellulite, the dimpled skin that typically appears on the thighs, hips and buttocks, or loose saggy skin.

Healing and Recovery

Once your procedure is completed, a compression garment or elastic bandages will cover treatment areas. Your compression garment will minimize the swelling, bruising, discomfort and assist in the retraction of any loose skin. You will need to wear the garment for 4 weeks.

You should expect some initial drainage the first two days along with swelling, bruising and discomfort. subsides. However, you are encouraged to be up and about the night of your surgery and progressively increase your activities. Usually light work duties may be resumed within three to five days and vigorous exercise within two to four weeks.

While some results are noted immediately, your final shape and form will continue to improve as your swelling subsides. The final results may not be achieved for 6 months following your procedure. With continued practices of healthy diet and fitness, the loss of excess fatty tissue should be permanently maintained. However, substantial weight gain can alter an otherwise permanent result.
